Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Book Recommendation

I am ruined for all other books

If you’ve been VUBE-ing with us for a while, you may remember that early on in our journey I recommended a book to all of you before I had read it. Reader, I have read it.

Everyone told me this book was good. No less than Three People Whose Opinions I Trust told me that this book is absolutely it and you know what? They’re right. This book is it. Society has progressed beyond the need for other books. Since Confessions of the Fox and Gideon the Ninth exist, we’re totally good on books now.

Gideon the Ninth was pitched to me as “lesbian necromancers in space” and I would like to add that it is not ONLY that, but also extremely fun, well-plotted, bonkers, and immersive. It’s just really good genre-fiction. It’s clearly written by someone who knows what the fuck they’re doing in terms of both craft and the rules of the world they’ve created. It’s a joy to be in the hands of such a capable writer. The characters are all terrible and beguiling, the mysteries are incredibly mysterious, and the whole book is an absolute ride. It’s like A Darker Shade of Magic but with even better characters and stakes or if Confessions of the Fox was just like “we’re just here to have an absolutely insane necromantic time.” If you were a Maureen, Keeping it Together Duck, or crisis duck on the Infamous Uncharted Books Booklovers in Quar duck meme, let me cordially recommend Gideon the Ninth to you.

As I finished this book only slightly over 12 hours ago, I admit that I am the opposite of calm cool and collected about it. Most of my thoughts are just this cat pic.

But I did try my hand at coherency to make a meme recommendation for this truly superior book and then I just made some memes to cope with all the emotions I’m having which may or may not be funny if you haven’t read the book. No idea. Again, I am adrift in the mire of my Gideon the Ninth emotions and have forgotten who I was BG (Before Gideon) now that we are in The Year of Our Gideon 1.

These aren’t really spoilers but they will probably be more enjoyable if you have even the slightest idea what I’m talking about.
