Friends,
You spend time on the internet, so I assume you‘re aware of the Icelandic tradition called Jólabókaflóðið, or the Christmas Book Flood.
Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there could be no better holiday for a book lover: a night on which people exchange books, then get cozy and read them. Books, hot chocolate, perhaps a fire, and silent parallel play? Absolutely the dream. (Mine, anyway. Maybe yours involves speaking to other people, I don’t know.)
Great news! Uncharted will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for two more days, Wednesday, December 22 and Thursday, December 23, before we close for the holiday weekend. That’s plenty of time to pop in and find a book to give the loved ones you prefer to enjoy quietly, from another room. “Happy Jólabókaflóðið! Sorry, you have to go read this right now. I don’t make the rules.”
After that, we’ll see you again on Tuesday, the 28th. In the meantime, my gift to Ramona fans is this picture of my friend Michelle’s 8-week-old Samoyed, who is basically a bag of cotton candy with a tiny, beating heart.
Stay cozy, y’all.
Until next time,
Kate
